Just like all the kittens we rescue, Tadpole has charmed us with her wiles, but it is her story that makes her truly special.

Tadpole and her brother, Toad, were born to tiny teen mom Froggie in 2019. As far as we know, Tadpole was born paraplegic, meaning that she cannot use her back legs and needs assistance using the litter box. Many shelters and rescues simply do not have the time and resources to handle paraplegic cats, especially such young and vulnerable ones. Luckily, Tadpole’s fosterer realized her need for specialized care and reached out to us for help.

When they arrived at Tabby’s, Toad and Tadpole were taken into foster care with one of our dedicated veterinary technicians. Since the kittens were no longer weaning, Momma Froggie stayed at Tabby’s Place. In October 2019, Froggie, who was barely more than a kitten herself when she gave birth, found her forever home. Toad and Tadpole will be returning to Tabby’s Place very soon. We are very excited to finally have these two young ones among our midst!

Being paraplegic doesn’t slow Tadpole down or dampen her spirits. In fact, she is known for quickly scaling tall cat trees and zooming about the room. She may not have the use of her back legs, but she is still a kitten and is full of boundless energy.

Due to her special needs, Tadpole requires on-going care and is one of our sponsorable cats. If you would like to support Tadpole and all of her adorable antics, please see her sponsor page!
